On Thursday, February 2nd Herkimer High School’s National Honor Society and Outdoors Club banded together to host a Red Cross Blood Drive. There was so much overwhelming support from students, faculty, and the community as a whole that some walk-in donors had to be turned away because there wasn’t enough Red Cross Staff and equipment to process all of them.
However, there is still a local blood shortage. If you wish to donate blood, then remember to sign up well in advance, bring a valid photo ID that includes a date of birth, and arrive on time fully hydrated with something packed with sugar to snack on afterwards. Also consider giving a double red blood cell donation instead of a normal whole blood donation. It takes almost twice as long, but double red blood cell donations are very useful and are in short supply.
Help save some lives by signing up at a Red Cross Blood Drive near you.
